The Story
In February 1993, the Kim family of South Korea welcomed a baby boy into their family and named him Young Wan. He was born with a severe form of spina bifida, a condition which doctors in South Korea were unwilling to treat. Their advice to the Kims was to take their son home and let him die.
But the Kims refused to give up. They did their best to care for Young Wan on their own, but devastating complications threatened to take his life only weeks after he was born.
When hope seemed lost, a miraculous connection was made between the Kim family and Kathy Baird, a mother and patient advocate living in Kaysville, Utah, USA. With her help (and plenty of divine intervention), the Kims immigrated to the United States and received the treatment necessary to preserve their precious son’s life.
Their journey was filled with many sacrifices and miracles, and as a result the two families became forever entwined. The story they have lived is a humbling testament of the truth that with God, nothing is impossible.

The interior design of the book is simple and classy, showcasing the text without distracting from it. The image on the cover was inspired by the Kims’ long journey across the ocean, leaving everything behind to save their son’s life.
